Ran Bosilek is one of the few writers who devotes himself exclusively to children’s literature. His real name is Gencho Negencov and he is well known as a remarkable creator, editor, translator, publisher, who devoted more than 50 years of his life to children and children’s books. Thanks to his activity, hundreds of children’s works by Bulgarian and foreign authors appeared in Bulgarian, especially during the so-called “golden period” of children’s literature (20s and 30s of XX century).

Abstract
The series consists of letters from the main character Patilancho to his friend Smehurko. The wild adventures of Patilancho and his group of curious, resourceful and cheerful Patilans are inevitably connected with the other central character in the book, the object of their antics – the strict but loving grandmother Tsotsolana. “Kingdom of Patilan” laughs, entertains and teaches the importance of friendship, courage and reason. The publication is part of the series to help students. The short stories in rhyme of the unforgettable Ran Basilek are included in the lists of required and recommended reading for 2nd grade.
