Thanos Alexandris is a Greek writer, lyricist, and screenwriter, best known for his semi-autobiographical novel Afti i Nychta Menei (1993), which captures the raw, underground nightlife of Greece in the 1980s. Born in Greece, Alexandris immersed himself in the world of music and nightlife, working in provincial nightclubs, an experience that deeply influenced his writing. His book was later adapted into a film (1999) and inspired a popular song by Stamatis Kraounakis. His work is characterized by its realism, poetic cynicism, and nostalgic depiction of a lost era. Alexandris’ influence extends beyond literature, as his lyrics and stories continue to resonate with Greek popular culture.

Abstract
The book Afti i nychta menei (This Night Remains) is an autobiographical journey through the nightlife of provincial Greece, where Thanos Alexandris vividly and passionately captures his experiences from an era that has now passed. Through personal testimonies, the author transports us to a world filled with excess, sensuality, temptations, and dangers—a night where one either truly lives or perishes, with no in-between.
He describes the transformations brought by the night, from the unexpected rise of women who become their most authentic selves to the harsh reality of the social and economic contradictions prevailing in small-town nightclubs. With a writing style that blends humor, authenticity, and a sense of nostalgia, Alexandris portrays the passion, ritual, and extreme experiences of a nightlife that helped him escape conventional existence and discover his own dream.
