Edip Cansever was born on September 27, 1928, in Istanbul.He studied at Istanbul University Faculty of Literature but left without completing his education. He started writing poetry at a young age and became known as one of the prominent poets of the ‘Second
New’ movement in Turkish poetry. He aimed to use an abstract and lyrical language, challenging
traditional poetic norms. Some of his notable works include ‘Bütün Şiirleri'(Collected Poems), ‘Bir Gün Mutlaka'(One Day for Sure), and ‘Yanlış Yüzyılın Şairi Edip Cansever’ (The Poet of the Wrong Century,Edip Cansever).
