Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar (23 June 1901 – 24 January 1962) was a Turkish poet, novelist, literary scholar
and essayist, widely regarded as one of the most important representatives of modernism in Turkish
Literature. In addition to his literary and academic career, Tanpınar was also a member of the Turkish
Parliament between 1944 and 1946.

Irdal’s most pleasant memory is Muvakkit Nuri Efendi.This man was also part of the ‘treasure hunts’in the neighborhood. But no treasure hunt could make them rich. Then, İrdal goes to the army. When he returns, he marries a wealthy woman. But his wife’s legacy ends. İrdals joke that he made about his wife’s father is taken seriously and while he tries to explain that there is no such thing, he is taken to the hopsital. İrdal later marries a woman named Pakize. During these years, he works in different
jobs, but is fired.Ayarcı, a watchmaker, influenced by Irdal’s words, he establishes the Time
Regulation Institute.The Institute receives great attention and İrdal begins to be mentioned with
great praise.İrdal became famous by designing the Institute building.
