Abstract
It narrates the experiences of a 9-year-old boy, Manolito Gafotas, who is well known in his neighbourhood of Carabanchel Alto, and who is characterised by his sincere and direct way of seeing the world around him.
Manolito is a cheerful boy who lives with his parents, his grandfather Nicolás and his little brother, the ‘Imbécil’, and who is always ready to tell his vision of things. Together with his best friend, the ‘Orejones López’, and his greatest enemy, the ‘chulito Yihad’, the return to his school ‘Diego Velázquez’ becomes an adventure, full of everyday anecdotes about life, his problems, his family… The arrival at school of a new classmate, Paquito Medina, a date at the Hanging Tree with Susana or the happiest birthday of grandfather Nicolás are some of the memorable events of Manolito Gafotas’ first book, undoubtedly a very funny and endearing work centred on the life of a child with a unique way of being.
