Abstract
Lupo Alberto is a famous Italian comic book series created by Guido Silvestri, known as Silver, in 1973 and first published in 1974 in the magazine Corriere dei Ragazzi. The protagonist is a blue wolf, likable and persistent, who is desperately in love with the hen Marta, who lives on the McKenzie Farm. The entire comedic premise revolves around Alberto’s constant, and often futile, endeavor to sneak into the farm to meet Marta, by overcoming or trying to outsmart the relentless guard dog, Moses, an irritable and authoritarian Bobtail, who systematically hinders him. Other memorable characters include his inseparable friend Enrico the Mole, the neurotic female rabbit, and the duck Glicerina. The strips, initially short and self-contained, feature a surreal, sometimes slapstick humor that lightly criticizes society and human dynamics through the farm animals. Lupo Alberto has become a true cultural phenomenon in Italy, a testimonial for important social campaigns (such as the one on AIDS in 1991) and the star of two animated series, maintaining its popularity for nearly half a century
