Became interested in manga after reading Fujiko Fujio’s Manga Michi. In 1994 he entered Manga Kōshien a high school manga contest in which his single-panel story attracted attention. He worked as an animation assistant before launching his professional manga career. Debuted in 2001 with Nandodemo Roku Goku Goku Gatsu Jū San Hi at Big Comic Spirits followed by ‘Square Freeze’ and ‘Love Love Santa’. He moved to Weekly Shōnen Jump, where he published ‘Eyeshield 21’. When creating ‘Eyeshield 21’ he asked Yusuke Murata to be the illustrator and in 2002 it became a series. In 2006 he joined Akira Toriyama and Eiichiro Oda as a member of the Tezuka Award committee. He published ‘Kiba&Kiba’ “Shinpai Kato No Face” and ‘Alpha Centauri Dōbutsuen’ prior to Dr. Stone in 2017, with illustrator Boichi

Abstract
A mysterious phenomenon arrived all across the Earth, turning everyone into stone statues. Senku Ishigami, a brilliant scientist and high-school student, is the first one that woke up, 3700 years later. A few days later, Taiju Oki, Senku’s best friend, was the next in the line. Some researching, based on hints that Senku left for him, Taiju meets his friend back again. The objective was to re-establish the civilitation, starting by finding a way to awake their friend Yuzuriha.
When they finally found the method to do it, an incident with a lion forzed them to awake Tsukasa Shishio, the monster of high-school. They were initially a team, but after knowing that Tsukasa’s objective was reviving only the people that he consideres, the group gets divided onto two.
Yuzuriha gets revived by Senku and Taiju, so they start their way to get the civilitation back to what it was 3700 years before, while Tsukasa will try to create a new civilitation by him as the leader.
