Bestselling author Maurizio De Giovanni was born on 31 march in 1958 in Naples in southern Italy.

Puppies -Bastards of Pizzofalcone, is a 2015 mystery novel by Italian writer Maurizio De
Giovanni. It is the fourth book in the series “I Bastardi di PizzoFalcone”, which was later made a Rai fiction series.
The police station of Pizzofalcone is in disarray, four agents involved in drug trafficking have been imprisoned and have been replaced by “waste” of other offices. The new commissioner is Luigi Palma, 40 years old with the exclusive interest for the job, charged to start the procedures for the closing of the commissariat. Giuseppe Lojacono, unjustly removed from his Sicily, is the most brilliant among the inspectors even if his sentimental condition is depressing. Francesco Romano and the young agent Alessandra Di Nardo were transferred because of their rough ways, while the recommended Marco Aragona is given the last chance to stay in the police. Of the old team of PizzoFalcone remain only the elderly Giorgio Pisanelli and forty-year-old Ottavia Calabrese, each with
serious family problems. A group united by the fact of having nothing to lose. The first
investigation they are called to unravel comes unexpected. It is a little girl who is found abandoned near a garbage can right near the police station and Romano takes it to the office. The little girl is in serious condition, but immediately the cops catch the eye of the excellent workmanship of the clothes that the little girl wears, also the little girl smells clean: something does not add up. Who would abandon a child taking care of it with such dedication?! The police immediately search for
