Abstract

Atilla İlhan greets the reader with a tired, ruined, smitten and drunken Istanbul in his book titled Ben Sana Mecburum. By mixing himself so much, he transforms his verses into what
remains in the mirror of society and the individual, leaving what is left behind, transforming his era and himself into an urban legend. Even though the book is created under 5 titles, we can interpret the book in 3 different Atilla İlhan moods: Prisoner, lonely and dedicated. In his poems, in which we
feel his captive mood, there is a portrait of Atilla İlhan who does not fit into his shell, as well as a
portrait that he sees as occupied. Or there is a situation where he is suppressed from all four sides and cannot feel belonging. Loneliness is most often encountered in love poems. Atilla İlhan’s loving verses mostly relate to the absence, departure or death of his beloved. We can say that there is almost no happy poetry for Atilla İlhan. The passion of devotion, as the strongest emotion that envelops the whole of Atilla İlhan and that he cannot give up, appears in the book titled:Ben sana
mecburum. Death is just an extra, whose presence he feels step by step, in his lines where people who he can’t compare to anyone on the street, news of death come one after another and more are encountered. His dedication and unruly belief allow him easily to give up on many things, including life and people
