Abstract

Set against the turmoil of the Spanish Civil War, Tristes armas follows Miguel and Carmiña, two Republican fighters who make the painful decision to send their daughters, Harmonía and Rosa, away to Russia to shield them from the violence engulfing their homeland. Separated from their family and country, the girls must struggle to adapt to a new land, torn between longing and survival. Their story becomes a poignant representation of the sorrow and loss engendered by war, exploring themes of exile, identity, familial bonds, and the enduring emotional scars left by conflict.
