Orhan Pamuk is a Turkish novelist, screenwriter, academic, and recipient of the 2006 Nobel Prize in Literature. Orhan Pamuk was born in Istanbul, in 1952, and grew up in a wealthy but declining upper-class family. He was educated at Robert College secondary school in Istanbul and studied
architecture at the Istanbul Technical University, a subject related to his dream career, painting.
He left architecture school after three years to become a full-time writer, and graduated from the Institute of Journalism at the University of Istanbul in 1976. From ages 22 to 30, Pamuk lived with his mother, writing his first novel and attempting to find a publisher.

Abstract

The main character, Galip is a lawyer who lives in Istanbul. One day he wakes up and learns from a
note that his wife(Rüya) has left him. After that, he searches for her around the city and finds some hints. His suspicions concentrate on his brother Celal. He learns that she is with his brother. Then he finds Celal’s house and moves there. Now he has become Celal. He starts to wear his brothers clothes, behaves like him and even does his job. He takes the opportunity to be like Celal, whom he has been a fan of since his childhood. Also Galip has also stopped looking for Rüya. From now on,whatever Celal will do, how he will behave, Galip will do it, he will act like it. One day, while Celal and Rüya are walking on the road, someone approaches them. He shouts at Celal that he is an old fan,but that Celal seduces his wife and fires his gun. Both Celal and Rüya die. After that, Galip returns to the profession of lawyer, but does not give up doing Celal’s job as well.
