Tassos Leivaditis was born in Athens in 1922. He studied at the School of Philosophy at the University of Athens and also participated in the resistance against the German occupation during World War II. Leivaditis is well-known for his poetry collection “The Body of Necessity,” which was published in 1947 and is considered one of the most significant works of the post-war generation of poets. His work is characterized by deep psychological insight and emotional intensity.
In addition to poetry, Leivaditis was also involved in essay writing and the translation of literary works. He passed away in Athens in 1988, leaving behind a rich legacy in Greek literature.
