Abstract
The Red Haired Woman, which is adorned with
notions of the uncanny, is fearless in its reading of canonical texts like Oedipus Rex and Rostam and Sohrab and in tackling the question of
patricide and paternal filicide.
Orhan Pamuk, tells us a story about a teenage boy who had fallen in love in a small town near Istanbul and a huge crime against humanity.
In the middle of 1980’s while Mahmut, a master who sinks a well, and his apprentice Cem were looking for water in a though land, a red haired and mysterious actress was acting in a big yellow tent.
The novel, on the one hand mentions about our teenage Cem’s meeting with his different emotions on the other hand it mentions about authority and individuation in father-son relationships using opposite civilizations.
