Born in London, he was a great connoisseur and expert of Shakespeare’s plays and researcher of English literature, a collector of nursery rhymes and English fairy tales.
At the age of 16 he contributed 47 articles to The Parthenon, a weekly magazine on English and foreign literature, arts and sciences.
In 1842 he published the first edition of Nursery Rhymes of England, followed by Nursery Rhymes and Nursery Tales, which contained the first printed version of The Three Little Pigs and a version of the carol The Twelve Days of Christmas.
In 1848 he published his Life of Shakespeare, illustrated by John Thomas Blight, of which several editions were made. From 1870 he abandoned textual criticism altogether and devoted himself to elucidating the details of Shakespeare’s life.

Abstract
The three little pigs decide to leave home and live their own lives, so each one has to build his own house. The youngest one builds his house out of straw, the middle one out of wood and the eldest one out of bricks.
The youngest and the middle brother laugh at the eldest, because he was working hard on his house, while his younger brothers were having fun.
A few days later, a hungry wolf came by with the intention of eating them. Each of them ran away and locked himself in his house.
When the wolf came to the little brother’s house, he knocked on the door, and when he wouldn’t let him in, the wolf blew so hard that the pig’s house fell apart, so he fled to his middle brother’s house.
When the wolf arrived at the middle brother’s house, the same thing happened, the wolf blew until the house fell apart, so they both decided to go to their big brother’s house, then the wolf blew and blew, but he was not able to undo the brick house, so he tried to sneak in through the chimney, but they were waiting for him with a pot of boiling water. The wolf was burnt and fled.
The three brothers will end up living together after learning the lesson that success comes from hard work and effort.
