Alda Merini was born in Milan on March 21, 1931 to a family of modest means. Alda’s career as a poet started at very early age. At fifteen she began devoting herself to writing poems. Thanks to Spagnoletti, Alda began frequenting the period’s most remarkable literary circle in Milan, attended by many eminent poets and critics, among them Pier Paolo Pasolini, Maria Corti, Luciano Erba and Giorgio Manganelli, with whom Alda began a tormented love affair.In 1950 Alda became romantically involved with Salvatore Quasimodo; the relationship lasted until 1953.Alda continued writing until the end of her life. Alda Merini died on November 1, 2009 of cancer.

Terra d’Amore: An Italian Story is una storia d’amore…a powerful love story that chronicles three generations of an Italian family starting with the difficult & tumultuous immigration of Giuseppe Costanzo & Rosa Nicolazzo & the amazing love story that was their life. Their arduous & exciting journey starts in Monterenzio, Italy at the beginning of the 20th century & ends decades later in a small town in Western Pennsylvania.
A century after Rose & Giuseppe leave Italy, an American man, a writer & the grandson of Giuseppe & Rosa, meets & falls desperately, helplessly & hopelessly in love with an Italian woman in the hills outside Bologna. The story of their love affair spans three decades, starting 5000 miles apart. They overcome time & distance & obstacle to eventually marry in Italy.
