Abstract
“I wrote mostly at night,” he will admit. Many of his friends spent part of the night talking to him on the phone, and that’s how he somehow overcame insomnia and the passing hours. Georgi Rupchev might have become a musician, because that was his first love. His poetry is completely permeated by music. Just read any poem aloud. At a time when blank verse was an alternative to the stifling canons of socialist realism, Rupchev wrote his virtuoso poems in rhyme combined with blank verse, and they sounded like no other.
