Abstract
In an interview Nedyalko Yordanov tells the story of the poem, which later becomes part of his book “Do not grow old, love”. His wife Ivana and him celebrated their golden wedding. When her first birthday came on July 18, 1968, then he was fired from the theater, had problems and had no money to buy her a present. “And what can a poor poet give his beloved but one poem.”- says Nedyalko. The next year he already had money, but she didn’t want a gift, she wanted a poem. And so it happened that every July 18 from the year 68 until now, he wrote a poem dedicated to their love. So in 1983 it appeared ” Don’t grow old, love”. Then Haigasho Agasyan read the work, asked him to transcribe it and created the music for the eternal Bulgarian song.
