Abstract
Nikos Kavvadias in Marabou writes about maritime stories that have marked him, about stories that only the experience of the sea can create. In these stories, ordinary people become tragic heroes, such as Willie the Warmaster or Captain Fletcher. His love for the “blue expanse” is predominant in all the poems. The marabou is an exotic bird, related to the stork. It has white-grey plumage, with a bare pink neck and head. It lives in Africa and Asia. The word has Arabic roots and means ascetic, hermit.
