Augustus Cortot (pseudonym of Petros Hatzopoulos, Thessaloniki, 1979) is a Greek writer and translator. He was born and raised in Thessaloniki and studied at the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, but did not complete his studies. In 1999, he published his first collection of short stories, The Book of Vitsios, and since then he has been systematically involved in writing and translation. He now lives in Athens, in Exarchia. In his first books he was influenced by the works of the Marquis de Sade, but in later books he deals with themes such as death, depression (which he himself has experienced), motherhood and love. His work was influenced by the suicide of his mother.

Abstract
Τhe content of the book is domestic violence. The protagonist learned from a very young age what violence means. She sees her mother bruised from a beating by her father. Her father even beats her. They live in a village where the father is the law of the house. Society knew the situation and no one spoke up. The girl at 18 meets a philologist on a school trip, falls in love with him and decides to run away and live free without fear and pain. She moves to Thessaloniki where she finds the philologist and lives with him. But before the love fades, the girl relives the violence, this time at the hands of her husband.
