Tomohito Oda is a Japanese author, who uses the native name 智仁 小田, won the World Worst One award at Shogakukan’s New Comic Artist Awards in 2012. Since then, he has been a successful author, with series such as Digicon, about a student who is able to control an alien with plans for world domination; or Komi Can’t Communicate, which started in 2015 in Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine and was a great success, to the point that it quickly jumped to animation.

Abstract
t’s the first day of school for Hitohito Tadano, and all he wants is to go unnoticed. This is when he meets Komi-San, one of his classmates, also a new student in the Itan Private highschool; who with her long black hair, elegant appearance, captivates the attention of everyone who crosses paths with her.
There, she receives great reception and becomes popular in a matter of seconds for her unprecedented beauty. However, there’s a tiny problem: Komi-san suffers from extreme social anxiety and she can’t communicate with people, which makes her unable to speak with others. Even with all of that, she’s still able to converse via mobile phone and uses a notebook to express her feelings through writing.
When she met Tadano, the first conversation they had was on a whiteboard. But Tadano’s a boy who sits right next to her and discovers two things: the first, is that sitting next to Komi has made him the enemy of every single person in class, but also gradually discovers all of her problems and about her personality while he denies his own romantic feelings for her, so he decides to help her find 100 friends (her own objective) but doesn’t notice how hard it’ll be for Komi to make 100 friends in that highschool.
First they try it with Najimi Osana and soon the three of them become friends. Little by little they achieve their goal despite the difficulties, because making friends is not always easy, but in the end they end up having more than a hundred friends.
