Hristo Izmirliev started school early, not yet 6 years old. Already in the third-fourth grade, his teacher Raina Izmirlieva discovered his poetic inclinations. He graduated from the fourth department in the spring of 1908 and due to his fragile health and a doctor’s recommendation to change the climate, he was sent to Sofia to his grandfather, Pope Anastas Krastev. The two years there greatly expanded his cultural and social outlook. His uncle Vladimir Popanastasov writes poetry and prose, has a rich library, and in the cultural environment – family and friends – all literary and political events are discussed. shortly before turning 25 years of age. “He asked for a piece of paper to write on, but that was his last wish,” his sister later recalled.

Abstract
“Winter Evenings” is a poetic cycle by Hristo Smirnenski, published in the literary supplement of “Rabotnicheski Vestnik” on January 27, 1923. It was published in 1924 as a separate book with illustrations by Alexander Zhendov and a foreword by Georgi Tsanev.
In it, the poet talks about the poverty, the misfortune and the broken destinies and hopes of the homeless. For Hristo Smirnenski, the color yellow is a symbol of death and unhappiness. For this reason, in several of the verses he says about this very thing. In general, the work is sad, unhappy. The characters in it are the children, the blind old man and the old grandmother and the children’s mother.
