Georgi Bardarov is a writer, geographer, specialist on ethno-religious conflicts and demographic issues. Bardarov came to public attention with the unexpected online success of his short story “Of the Fifth Rakia or How Beautiful Life Is”. Afterwards he won the first and so far only Bulgarian TV literary reality show “The Manuscript” with his novel “I Am Still Counting the Days ” (2016), which became a bestseller and one of the most discussed Bulgarian novels in the last decade.
Bardarov’s second novel, Absolvo te (2020), won the European Prize for Literature in 2021.
He teaches public speaking and is part of the publishing and production company Musagena.

Abstract
A warm May night in 1993. The siege of Sarajevo had begun a year earlier and there was no end in sight. A young Serb couple stood in their kitchen, lost in silence.
